Quad/Graphics has acquired remaining QuadWinkowski shares and is the sole owner of the Polish company. For QuadWinkowski, this means important changes to make it even more competitive.
The change in ownership is the result of long-term involvement on the part of Quad/Graphics with Winkowski since its inception. The Winkowski company was established in 1998 at a former Rolling Stock Repair Plant in Piła, by merging a printing company in Piła with Supercolor, a Radzymin-based entity. Quad/Graphics, leading American printer, was enlisted as a 35 percent shareholder.
Ten years later, Quad/Graphics became the majority shareholder in the company, and the name was changed to QuadWinkowski. Now the company is 100 percent owned by the American company, with the result that our clients gain additional experience and advanced technology such as improvements to operating machinery, purchase of new equipment, and additional production automation.
But QuadWinkowski is not just machines; most of all it is the people who make a difference. That is why Quad/Graphics is committed to staff training and development in programs such as Job Relations and Training within the print industry. The company has implemented the Lean Manufacturing program, which aims at raising the efficiency, timeliness and quality of printing in all departments from sales to distribution.
To promote safety and awareness we have introduced a thinkSAFE initiative which includes a monthly quiz with questions relating to health and safety. The program is accompanied by the motto “Work smart. Be safe.” Any employee who takes part in the quiz has a chance to win prizes. The quiz is designed to test and consolidate knowledge in the field of occupational safety.
By implementing an environmental management system, ISO 14001, our objective is to be fully compliant with the requirements of environmental legislation in this area. ISO certification is also evidence of our independent and professional achievements in the field of environmental protection.
The company is led by an experienced team that includes both U.S. and Polish executives. They include Tom Frankowski, President; Tim Ohnmacht, Vice President of Sales & Marketing; Dariusz Tomczak, Vice President of Sales; Marek Gruszecki, Vice President of Finance; Barbara Bornikowska, Vice President of Accounting; Andrzej Platek, Vice President of Facilities and Government Affairs; Jakub Dylag, Vice President of Operations, Plant Director for Wyszkow; Tomasz Kedziora, Vice President, Plant Director for Pila; Drew Marszal, European General Counsel; and Tomasz Hoppe, Plant Manager, Wyszków.
